JAMMU, Aug 18: The 75th Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal and patriotic fervor by various educational institutions across the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh with hoisting of National Flag and organizing allied cultural activities.
The Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, patriotic zeal and national fervor at Central University of Jammu, Rahya – Suchani, in Samba district. Vice Chancellor, Prof Sanjeev Jain hoisted the National Flag, inspected the Parade and took salute from the contingent of varsity’s Guards. He was accompanied by CUJ Registrar Dr Yashwant Singh.
Reasi Campus of the University of Jammu celebrated Independence Day with great fervor. The function was attended by all the staff members, students and persons from the civil society. The National Flag was hoisted by Prof Sushil K Pandey, Director, Reasi Campus.
With the flag hoisting ceremony followed up by the singing of the National Anthem, Independence Day was celebrated at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. Prof RK Sinha (Vice-Chancellor) unfurled the National Flag and addressed a large gathering comprising research students, faculty members and staff.
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm. Prof J P Sharma (Vice Chancellor) hoisted the National Flag at Faculty of Agriculture, Main Campus, Chatha and Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, R S Pura.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu celebrated the Day with great fervor. The programme was inaugurated by chief guest Kamal Singh (Naib Sarpanch of Dera Baba Panchayat), who also hoisted the Tri-colour.
The Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour in the University of Ladakh, Leh campus. Vice Chancellor Prof S K Mehta unfurled the Tri-color which was followed by recitation of National Anthem. On the occasion, the VC paid glorious tributes to freedom fighters.
Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour and gaiety. Vice Chancellor Prof Akbar Masood received the guard of honour and unfurled the National Flag. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Akbar paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters.
The staff and students of Government College of Engineering & Technology (GCET) Jammu marked the occasion by hoisting National Flag followed by playing the National Anthem with great joy, enthusiasm and upholding the patriotic fervour. The unfurling of flag was done by Principal Prof (Dr) Sameru Sharma.
Govt College of Education (GCOE) Jammu in collaboration with NSS Unit, Cultural Club and Physical Education Club celebrated Independence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm.
Dr Kulvinder Kour, Principal hoisted the National Flag in the presence of staff members. Padma Shri Jitendra Udhampuri, also an alumnus of the college, was the chief guest on the occasion. The NSS volunteers under the guidance of Program Officer Dr Shubhra Jamwal presented cultural items with great pomp and show.
Prof Shapia Shameem spoke on Nasha Mukt Bharat and a pledge was taken to make India drug free. Prof Sarita Dogra, Dr Jyoti Parihar, Dr Anju Bala, Dr Sushma Bala, Prof Kaushal Kumar, Prof Vinay Lata, Prof Rajinder Kour, Prof Mansi Sharma, Prof Neeraj Verma and the non-teaching staff were also present on the occasion.
The Day was celebrated by all the colleges under Shri Sain Charitable Trust for Higher Education & Research in the campus of Jammu Institute of Ayurveda & Research (JIAR), Jammu. The National Flag was hoisted by chief guest Suman Sharma, chairperson of the Trust.
In New Millenium National College of Education, Sarore, former Minister and chairman of the College Ram Paul unfurled the Tri-colour along with ex-MLA Qazi-Jalal-ud-Din and retired DG Ashok Attri. Students sang patriotic songs and presented some cultural activities.
Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at GDC Nubra campus. The faculty members, students and also non-teaching staff participated in the flag hoisting ceremony which was performed by Principal of the College.
At Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur, celebrations began with flag hoisting by Madhu Khajuria, chairperson of Bhartiya Group of Institution. The students of the College presented patriotic songs and group dances.
Dogra Group of Colleges viz. Dogra College of Education, Dogra Law College and Dogra Degree College celebrated Independence Day in Bari Brahmana campus with great pomp & show. Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, former minister and chairperson, Dogra Educational Trust hoisted the National Flag.
Padma Shri Padma Sachdev, Government P G College for Women, Gandhinagar (Jammu) paid reverence to the Nation by hoisting the National Flag in the College Premises by the officiating Principal Dr Sujata Slathia along with teaching and non- teaching staff, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets.
In Government Degree College (GDC) Dudu (Basantgarh), the National Flag was hoisted by Principal Dr Bhavnaish Chand. On this occasion, a symposium on the theme “Indian Freedom Struggle” was conducted.
GDC Khour celebrated Independence Day enthusiastically in the College campus. The National Flag was unfurled by the chief guest Balbir Singh Bhau (BDC Chairman Khour) in the presence of Principal of the College Prof (Dr) T K Sharma.
In GDC for Women, Kathua, Principal Dr Sangita Nagari hoisted the National Flag in the presence of College staff along with NSS volunteers and NCC Cadets. National Anthem was presented by the all present during the ceremony.
The Day was celebrated in GDC Batote with pomp and show. The Tri-colour was hoisted by College Principal Prof Rajesh Kumar Gupta. The flag hoisting was followed by playing of National Anthem.
In GDC Katra, Independence Day was celebrated by unfurling of National Flag which was done by Principal Dr CK Khajuria. In his address, Dr Khajuria remembered sacrifices of freedom fighters.
GDC RS Pura celebrated the Day with full zeal and enthusiasm. Principal Prof Sunil Uppal hoisted National Flag in the College campus. NCC Cadets presented guard of honour to the Principal.
To mark the occasion, a function was organized at GDC Jourian. Principal Prof Kuldeep Raj Sharma unfurled the National Flag. This was followed by the singing of National Anthem.
The day started in GDC Nowshera with the hoisting of the National Flag by Principal Dr K K Sharma. A beautiful patriotic speech and a song was rendered by Gagandeep Choudhary & Aniket Kumar students of semester 4th.
In GDC Pouni, Principal, Prof Rajni Bhagat along with Prof US Liza and Prof Balbir Kumar unfurled the National Flag. In her address, Prof Bhagat called upon the students to follow the teachings of our freedom fighters.
She also threw light on India’s freedom struggle.
To celebrate the day, GDC Darhal in collaboration with the Tehsil Administration and educational institutions organized flag hoisting ceremony. BDC Chairman Mohd Aslam Malik was the chief guest on the occasion. He unfurled the National Flag in presence of Dr Ahsan Ul Rehman Rizvi, Officiating Principal of the College.
GDC Bishnah celebrated the Day by hoisting the National Flag and organizing a cultural programme in the college premises. Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the College hoisted the National Flag. The students performed a skit portraying the ideals set by the freedom fighters.
Department of Sociology, GLDM GDC Hiranagar launched a monthly newsletter with the name “The Sociological Communiqué” on the eve of the Independence Day. The newsletter was released by College Principal Dr Pragya Khanna in presence of faculty members of the College.
Government Polytechnic College Kathua celebrated the Day with great fervour and enthusiasm. On the occasion, Principal (Er) Arun Bangotra hoisted the Tricolour. All the staff members and students participated in the function.
Independence Day was celebrated by Shree Vishwakarma Library & Research Centre, New Plot (Jammu) with various executive members. The National Flag was hoisted by Ramesh Angotra (convener). On this pious occasion, sweets were distributed to the passersby and participants.
In Girls Pahari Hostel Poonch, the Tricolor was hoisted by Shahnaz Bano, Warden of Girls Pahari Hostel, who speaking on the occasion, said remembered our freedom fighters.
The 75th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor at all J&K Police Public Schools. The Principals of J&K Police Public Schools, Srinagar, Jammu, Anantnag, Baramulla and Kupwara hoisted the National Flag at their respective school campuses. DGP Dilbag Singh (chief patron, J&K PWWA) and Dr Rubinder Kaur (Chairperson, Management Committee, J&K PWWA) complimented all Principals, staff members and students on the occasion.
Army Public School Rakhmuthi celebrated the Day with gaiety. A sense of patriotism could be seen during the unfurling of the Tricolor which was done by guest of honour Brigadier Harjit Prit Pal Singh. Students presented dance performances portraying the struggle endured by the freedom fighters.
In Government Mixed Higher Secondary School, Purkhoo (Camp), The Tri-colour was unfurled by chief guest Harjeet Kour (Accounts Officer, Migrants, DSE Jammu) along with Principal of the Institution R K Hakim.
GHSS Bohri (Jammu) celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotism. The National Flag was unfurled by Principal of the School Ramesh Tikoo, who also spoke on the significance of the Day.
In GHSS Durga Nagar (Jammu), an impressive function was organized to celebrate the Day. The Tricolour was hoisted by Principal of the School Dr Sanjay Pandita.
The National Flag was hoisted in Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Jullakha Mohalla (Jammu) by Jagdish Sharma, Corporator along with Principal of the School, Razia.
GHSS Gurha Slathian celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor. Principal Arti Gupta, DDC member Sudershan Singh Slathia and Sarpanch Jatinder Singh Slathia jointly unfurled the National Flag.
Raina Higher Secondary School, Paloura/Chak Seri (Bhalwal) organized flag hoisting ceremonies in their respective campuses to celebrate the Day. In Paloura campus, the National Flag was hoisted by Principal Preeti Sharma and in Chak Seri campus by Principal Shallu Khajuria.
In Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Sunderbani, the National Flag was hoisted by chief guest Rajinder Sharma (president, municipal committee) in presence of ADC Sunderbani Vinod Kumar Benhal and other senior officers from different departments.
Government Hari Singh Higher Secondary School Jammu celebrated Independence Day and National Flag hoisting ceremony was accomplished by the Principal, Vijay Chanyal which was followed by National Anthem recitation. NCC cadets presented salute to the National Flag.
