MLA inaugurates IWMP in Chatroo

Kishtwar, Sept 25: Department of Integrated Watershed and Management Program (IWMP) held a public awareness camp at Dadpath and Mughal Maidan area of Chatroo tehsil of Kishtwar district and apprised the people of the two Centrally sponsored schemes to be executed by the department in the area at the cost of Rs. 1341.60 lakh.
Centrally sponsored schemes named as Sigdi II (852.60 lakh) and Sigdi III (489.00 lakh) were inaugurated by MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori by laying foundation stone at Dadpath and Sigdi in presence of large number of people. He said Union Government under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh is committed for over all development of the backward areas of the State.
He said that Government has accorded sanction to three projects for Inderwal constituency under IWMP at an estimated cost of 1928.25 lakh. He said that two more projects named as Keshwan-Pakalan and Kither-Patnazi costing nearly Rs 15 crore are in pipeline.
He said that Central Government flagship schemes like MGNREGA, NRHM and RAMSA have already started yielding results. MGNREGA has changed the economic condition of the poor masses and with the proper implementation of IWMP projects, the economic condition of the people living in these areas will improve further.
The prominent among those including Project Manager IMWP Kishtwar Balbir Singh, District Level technical expert Dr Nowsheen, Project Assistant Firdous Ahmed Ganie, Technical expert Water and Management officer Suhail Mir and Naresh Kumar and Agriculture expert Shahnawaz Ahmed briefed the people about the IWMP projects.
