DGP sanctions special welfare, ex-gratia relief, financial assistance

SRINAGAR, Aug 20: The Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned over Rs 1.22 crore as special welfare relief for NoKs of deceased police personnel and SPOs, while as Rs 93.50 lakh as ex-gratia relief has also been sanctioned in favour of legal heirs of martyred police personnel and SPO.
Ex-gratia relief of Rs 38 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of martyrs HC Ali Mohammad Ganie, Constable Tawseef Ahmad Wani. Rupees 17.50 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs martyr SPO Shafat Nazir Khan.
The special welfare relief of Rs 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased police personnel ASI Manzoor Ahmad, HCs Shalinder Singh, Vinod Kumar, Followers Ghulam Hassan and Nazir Ahmad. The deceased personnel have passed away due to illness or natural death while in service.
Rupees one lakh each was already paid to NoKs of these martyrs/deceased police personnel for performing last rites through their concerned units. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds.
Rupees 6 lakh each as special welfare relief has been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPO Swarn Singh and SPO Abdul Hamid Sheikh who have passed away during the course of their engagement in the department. Rupees 50 thousand each was already paid to their families for performing last rites. The amount is sanctioned out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs.
The DGP has also sanctioned Rs 1 lakh as financial assistance in favour of NoKs of martyr constable to defray the expenses in connection with the marriage ceremony of his daughter.
