KATHUA, Aug 30: J&K unit of Vedic Brahman Kalyan Parishad (VBKP) today demanded fair investigation in the BJP activist, Som Raj mysterious death/murder case at Hiranagar in district Kathua and urged the J&K Police authorities to expedite the investigations as even after 10 days of the incident, no accused could be arrested.
A deputation of VBKP J&K unit led by its president, Daya Ram Sharma called on Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Border (Kathua/Hiranagar), Pankaj Sudan and requested him to expedite the investigation and ensure free and fair probe in the case providing justice to the poor victim family. They also submitted a memorandum to the district police authorities.
The NGO members pleaded that the SIT constituted by SSP Kathua, RC Kotwal must go into all the details connected with the case and ensure fair investigation without coming under any influence from any quarter. They asserted that it was clear murder and not suicide as being projected by some people at Hiranagar to give twist to the case. They sought justice for the poor family. The SDPO assured that SIT constituted for the purpose was on the job and case would be worked out as early as possible.
National President of VBKP, Subhash Koushik, urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to render financial help to the poor family of Som Raj, a hard core BJP activist and also provide Government job to at least one member of his family.
Meanwhile, VBKP offered Rs 75,000 financial assistance to the family of Late Som Raj Sharma and Rs 25,000 to another poor family of Late Sudershan Sharma of Sarwal in Jammu, for the surgery of the leg of his son- Anant Sharma, who met with bike accident four days ago. The boy had undergone two surgeries of his leg in a Jammu hospital.
Prominent among those who accompanied VBKP deputation included-Baldev Sharma, Prem Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Gopal Sharma, Councillor Sanjay Sharma, Radha Krishan, Vijay Sharma, Sukhdev Sharma, Varinder Shastri, Ravinder Sharma, Suresh Shastri and Kuldip Sharma.
