JAMMU, Sept 30: Government Degree College (GDC) Kilotarian and GDC Billawar were among the winners on day-1 of the Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi Tournament, which got underway at Jammu University Grounds, here today.
The other winners included GDCs Rajouri and Udhampur and PG Department, University of Jammu.
The Tournament is being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
In men’s section, GDC Kilotarian defeated GDC Bhade-rwah by 10 points, GDC Rajouri drubbed GDC RS.Pura by 7 points, GDC Billawar outplayed GDC Hiranagar by 10 points, GDC Poonch got walkover against GDC Ramnagar, GDC Udhampur Boys thrashed GGM Science College by 20 points, PG Department crushed GDC Thanamandi by 27 points, while match between RK Degree College and GDC Bishnah could not be held as both the teams failed to report at the venue.
Meanwhile, in women’s section, GDC Kathua got walkover against GDC Samba, while GDC Reasi and Bhargava Degree College teams failed to report at the venue.
Earlier, the Tournament was inaugurated by the chief guest, Prof Manoj K Dhar, Registrar University of Jammu, while Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu presided over the function.
The other dignitaries present on the occasion were the Physical Directors of GGM Science College, GDC RS.Pura, GDC Poonch, GDC Thana-mandi, GDC Kilotrian, GDC Bhaderwah, GDC Rajouri, GDC Billawar, GDC Hiranagar, GDC Udhampur (Boys) and GDC Kathua.
Among others present were Raj Kumar Bakshi, Sanjeev Jamwal, Nisha Sharma, Ravish Vaid, PD Singh and Jai Bharat.
The matches were officiated by Ankush Gupta, Manpreet Singh, Keshav Singh, Ankush Sharma, Anil Kumar and Gagan Kumar.
