Occupation of 2 villages near LoC raised in Legislative Assembly

SRINAGAR :  Reported occupation of two villages near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector was today raised in Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (LA), by National Panthers Party (NPP) members, who later walked out from the House after Speaker Mubarak Gul said it was a very sensitive issue and let government get full details before any reply.
The House witnessed anti-Pakistan and anti-coalition government slogans.
As the House met after two days holiday, members from NPP, BJP, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Communist Party of India (M) and Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) were on their feet wanted to raise their issues. However, nothing was heard in the din.
Despite repeated directions from the chair, the members refused to resume their seats.
Later, Mr Gul announced that he will allow one member from each party to speak before the Question Hour.
Leader of the NPP in the House Haresh Dev Singh raised the issue of infiltration in Keran sector.
‘We will not allow another Kargil in Keran’, he said adding that for the past ten days, firing was going on between Army and infiltrators, who have occupied two villages–Shalla Bhata and Jamkan–.
He alleged that Pakistani Army has taken the control of these villages. It is another Kargil in Kashmir, he said, adding that it was a serious issue for everyone. It is a challenge to national integrity.
The members wanted to know the latest position on the LoC, he said and demanded a statement from the government on the issue.
Mr Gul said it is a very sensitive national issue. “We all are concerned over the reports,” he said but added that how the government will give instant reply.
The information about the incident will be with Army and Defence Ministry, Mr Gul said and asked the NPP members to resume their seats after started raising slogans in the  House.
“Pakistan Hai Hai, coalition government Hai Hai”, the members shouted the slogans before walking out.
A member from BJP also left the House briefly before returning back when Question hour was taken up. However, his first question lapsed and the Speaker took up second question of the day.
