Snatcher nabbed; stolen gold chain worth Rs 1.4 lakh, cash recovered

JAMMU, Sep 21: Gandhi Nagar Police today arrested a snatcher and recovered a stolen gold chain worth Rs 1.4 lakh along with a cash of Rs 43,000 from his possession.
“On 16-09-2022, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Gandhi Nagar by one person namely Sagar Gupta son of Chander Shekhar, resident of 104/105 Shastri Nagar (Jammu) stating that when he was on morning walk towards Shastri Nagar, two persons snatched his gold chain and ran away,” a police spokesman said, adding acting on the complaint, a case FIR number 234/2022 U/S 382 IPC was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
He said to crack the case, special police teams of Police Station Gandhi Nagar under the supervision of SDPO South Sachit Sharma were constituted and during investigation, the team led by SHO Police Station Gandhi Nagar Inspector Pankaj Sharma after connecting various leads rounded up one suspect namely namely Ashwani Kumar alias Patty, resident of Nanak Nagar (Jammu).
The spokesman said during sustained questioning the accused confessed his involvement in the case and on his disclosure the stolen gold chain worth Rs 1,40,000 and a cash amount of Rs 43,000 was recovered.
Further investigation of the case is going on to ascertain their involvement in other cases also, he added.
