Azad for better coordination between medical bodies

NEW DELHI, Oct 4:  Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today stressed on better coordination between different medical bodies to weed out the problem of duplicate registration and other malpractices.

“There is greater need for better cooperation and coordination between the Medical Council of India and State Medical Councils so that issues relating to duplicate registration, malpractice and ethical issues are dealt with more efficiently,” Azad said.

Though state councils have on-line registration software, much needs to be done to implement online registration system and prepare a live, real time register at the national level by integrating state and national registers, he said in his message to National Conference of Network of State Medical Councils which he could attend the event.

The Minister asked the Medical Council of India and all the State Medical Councils to focus their energies on starting work in this important area at the earliest.

He noted that the demand for high quality health care is rising in urban as well as rural areas “not only due to an increase in population but also rise in income levels and the demand generation induced by infrastructure and human resource augmentation under NRHM.” (PTI)
