Swati, Vandana emerge winners

JAMMU, Oct 4: Swati Sharma and Vandana Bhagat, both from the Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu, with their excellent expressions, technique, costumes, agility, reflexes and footwork stole the show and emerged as the first and second prize winners in the Classical Dance (Solo) Competition conducted under the “Display Your Talent” 2013-14 by the University of Jammu.
The participants presented “Guru Vandana”, “Ganesh Vandana”, Thumri” etc with their presentations, while “Tore”, “Tukde”, “Gat-bhav” & “Tatkar” etc received applause from the audience.
Each participant was given a maximum time of fifteen minutes including time for preparation and exit etc.
Anuradha Seth Kohli, Arti Mahajan and Shilpa Kotwal were the adjudicators for the said event.
Dr Suvidha Khanna, The School of HTM, University of Jammu, was the teacher incharge of this event who apprised the participants about the rules and regulations.
Prof Neeru Sharma, chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee was the chief guest on this occasion and distributed the prizes among the winners in presence of Prof NK Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare and Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Co-Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee.
The proceedings were conducted by Apoorva Jamwal, Secretary, Students Cultural Council, while Thakur Joginder Singh acted as time keeper.
