JAMMU, Sept 26: Passport applicants across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will be able to apply for Police Clearance Certificates (PCCs) at all online Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) starting from September 28.
This was stated by N K Shil, Regional Passport Officer (RPO), Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. He said often the issuance of the PCCs by the local police takes time that results in a delay in the grant of passports and that is why, this path breaking initiative has been taken by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to reduce the long wait period for issuing PCCs.
Shil said henceforth, citizens of J&K can avail services of PCCs at Post Office Passport Seva Kendras inter alia POPSK Rajouri, Anantnag, Baramulla, Udhampur and Leh. He said earlier PCCs services were available in Passport Seva Kendras (PSK) only and people had to wait for long period and travel long distances to get these crucial services connected with their career, job, PR & education.
“This people centric initiative of RPO J&K and Ladakh (MEA) will cut down delay, increase number of PCCs appointments, help benefit in getting quick PCCs services and go a long way in mitigating the hardship, presently applicants are experiencing,” he asserted.
Pertinently, PCCs are prerequisite for the issuance of passports to the applicants.
