Dhruv powers Simula to big win in JTP T20

JAMMU, Oct 5: First-class cricketer Dhruv Mahajan slammed magnificent half-century and took 2 important wickets to help Simula Cricket Club register a big win by 52 runs over Mendhar Cricket Club in the ongoing Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Young Star Cricket Club at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Simula Club rode on skipper Dhruv Mahajan’s power-packed 53 runs to score a decent total of 171 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Dhruv exhibited his skill upto the maximum level in shortest format of the game and forced the spectators to recall his masterful century, way back, in a One-Dayer against the then formidable Delhi which had a galaxy of International bowlers in Ashish Nehra, Amit Bhandari and Nikhil Chopra, apart from Robin Singh Junior and Rahul Sanghvi, as he sent the Mendhar Club bowlers on a leather-hunt and played the shots with utmost brilliance and fluid grace. He struck 4 fours and one six in his splendid knock. Anshuman Sharma scored thunderous 46 runs off 28 balls, studded with 4 boundaries and 4 sixes, while Hardeep Singh also contributed valuable 38 runs to the total. For Mendhar Club, Masoom took 2 wickets, while Ankush and Muzamil claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Mendhar Club managed to score 119 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 9 wickets, thus lost the match by 52 runs. Irfan Khan was the top scorer with 30 runs, while Muzamil and Yasir Khan contributed 24 runs each. For Simula Club, Dhruv Mahajan, Sameer Khajuria and Mohit Puri bagged 2 wickets each. Dhruv Mahajan was adjudged man of the match for his superb all-round show.
In another match, JKP XI defeated Kings XI by 18 runs in a hard fought contest.
Batting first, JKP XI scored a fighting total of 156 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Rompy Sharma was the top scorer with brilliant 44 runs off 29 balls, which included 3 fours and 2 massive sixes, while Pankaj Ladda and Rajesh Gill contributed 25 and 23 runs to the total respectively. Farooq and Amit Sharma also chipped in with 17 and unbeaten 16 runs to the total respectively. Rahul and Sahil scalped 2 wickets each for Mendhar Club, while Mukesh, Vikrant and Nipun claimed one wicket apiece.
Kings XI, in reply scored 138 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted overs, thus lost the match by 18 runs. Nipun Verma top scored with 45 runs, while Rahul Chandal contributed 29 runs to the total. Sant Baksh and Jagteshwar Singh chipped in with 18 and 17 runs respectively. For JKP XI, RK Bhat and Rajesh Gill bagged 2 wickets each by conceding 14 and 21 runs respectively. Rompy Sharma was adjudged man of the match.

Samar CC will take on Challenger CC in the first match tomorrow, while MGCA will face Khalsa Club in the second match.
