JAMMU, Sept 30: In an interesting battle between the two young paddlers, Samar held his nerves high and emerged winner by beating Ahaan by 3-1 to lift the Hopes boys’ title, while Nitya Arora clinched Cadet girl’s title by defeating Yasha in the ongoing 45th Jammu District Table Tennis Championship, being played at Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
Ritvik Gupta kept his dominance alive in the cadet boy’s event and entered the finals with a confident victory over Hiteshwar by 3-0, whereas Gourav kept his nerves high and managed to sneak into the finals with a 3-2 victory over Ayaan.
The tournament is being organised by J&K Table Tennis Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under their initiative “My Youth My Pride.”
In cadet boy’s semi-finals, Ritvik beat Hiteshwar by 3-0, Gourav defeated Ayaan by 3-2, while cadet girl’s finals, Nitya beat Yasha by 3-1, and in Hopes boy’s finals, Samar defeated Ahaan by 3-1, besides in under 15 boys semi-finals, Ritvik trounced Gourav by 3-0 and Rudraksh defeated Ayaan by 3-1.
In junior boys (Under 17) quarterfinals, Ritvik beat Chandersheel by 3-0, Arya defeated Rudraksh by 3-0, Ayush trounced Adhyan by 3-0 and Pratham beat Honey by 3-0.
In men’s pre quarterfinals, Akash beat Saksham by 3-0, Maanay defeated Nitin by 3-0, Akhilesh got better of Adhiraj by 3-1, Pratham beat Anuj by 3-0, Ritvik defeated Rajan by 3-1 and Jayesh trounced Sumit by 3-0.
Satbir Singh, Sanjay Wahi, Rajan Sharma, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Saleem Bandey, Ashok Singh (Sports Officer Jammu Province), Vikas Gupta, Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra, Narinder Singh, Sheetal Gandotra and Sanjeev Gupta were among the prominent who graced today’s event.
