Essay Writing, Short Story Writing Competitions held

—Excelsior/Rakesh Students concentrating hard during On the Spot Essay Writing and Story Writing Competitions at University of Jammu.

JAMMU, Oct 6: Under the on going “Display Your Talent” 2013-14, an Inter-Collegiate/Departmental On the Spot Essay Writing and Short Story Writing Competitions were conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu at Examination Hall “C”, here today.
In Essay Writing competition, the topic for the contest was “Role of Social Media in spreading Communal hatred”.
The participants were required to write an essay comprising 2000 to 3000 words in English or Hindi Languages within the given time of Sixty Minutes.
Prof Satnam Kour, HoD, Department of English, Teacher In-charges for the Essay Writing competition and made the participants conversant with the Rules and Regulations of the event and supervised the competition.
In Short Story Writing competition, the topics for the contest were “Twittering Your Life Away”, “Daughter”, Mere Log”, Upphaar (Gift), “River -Tawi” and Communal Harmony”.
The participants were required to write a Short Story comprising 1500 words, on the given topic in English, Hindi, Dogri, Urdu and Punjabi within the given time of Ninety (90) minutes.
Dr Vijay Saigal, Department of Law, Teacher In-charges for the Short Story Writing competition who apprised the participants about the rules and regulations.
75 students from PG Departments of the University and its affiliated Colleges participated in both the events.
The result of the both competitions will be declared after the evaluation of the scripts.
