JAMMU, Oct 4: Jammu District clinched both men’s and mixed 4+4 (M/W) title in the two day fourth senior UT Tug of War Championship, organized by J&K Tug of War Association at Unique Public Higher Secondary School Gadi Garh, near here today.
In the Men 600kg final Jammu District defeated Kulgam District by (2-0) set. Earlier in the semifinals Jammu defeated Doda by (2-0) set, while Kulgam trounced Rajouri District by (2-1) set.
Similarly, in the 580kg mixed 4+4 (Men & Women) categories, Jammu beat Udhampur by (2-1) sets in the semi-finals. Jammu beat Anantnag District by (2-0) set, while Udhampur beat Poonch by (2-0) set.
Today`s finals and semi-finals matches were officiated by Gaurav Kumar Dubey (Chief Referee) Robin Singh and Suman Kumari (both umpires).
In the finals and prize distribution functions, vice president of the Association Kuldeep Kumar Gupta was the chief guest along with general secretary, Jodh Singh Isher and Jasbir Singh joint secretary. They presented winners and runner up trophies, medals and other individual prizes.
Kuldeep Kumar Gupta appealed to all the participants to take part in sports in a big way and stay away from drugs and refrain from indulging in anti-social activities.
