JAMMU, Oct 7: Department of Posts in J&K Circle has organized a ‘FIT to RUN’ program for their employees and their family members as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign, here today.
Postal officers and staff members showed their keen interest in the ‘FIT to RUN’ event and participated in early morning hours in good numbers. Some brought their children and other family members also. Employees gathered in front of Meghdooth Bhawan situated in the Rail Head complex. The postal team led by Colonel Vinod Kumar, Postmaster General of Jammu Region covered around five kilometres distance up to “Balidaan Stambh”.
Col Vinod Kumar said that the Fit India Freedom Run 3.0 aims to inculcate the habit of walking and running in people in the quest of better health and fitness. Keeping in view the nature of job and being habitual of in incorrect posture at offices most of the employees face health issues even in very early age, the solution is lies in running and walking which is required no special equipments or place as anyone can always run or start walking near to home in fresh breeze of nature.
He encouraged all the people to take part in the campaign by running and if some cannot run then they can enjoy by walking. Col Vinod Kumar said that a sound mind lives in a sound body so one must put sincere efforts to keep one’s body in a healthy manner. Health problems like obesity can easily be handled with running and walking.
Amit Sharma and Ujjwal successfully covered the run in the shortest time and were appreciated by Col Vinod Kumar, while Mishty, daughter of Rattan Lal, Superintendent RMS Jammu also participated and completed the run.
The event was managed by Dr Ankush Bhagat, Senior Superintendent of Post Office Jammu Division and refreshment.
