REASI, Oct 8: District Development Commissioner Reasi reviewed the progress of implementation of centrally sponsored schemes including MGNREGA, IAY, NBA, 13th FC with officers of Rural Development Department in a meeting held here today.
The District Development Commissioner Reasi appreciated the efforts of Assistant Commissioner Development Joginder Singh Rai and all officers of Rural Development in conducting 144 Gram Sabhas in the district on eve of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi under which the labour budget and works plan for 2014-15 was discussed and finalized in the respective Gram Sabhas followed be hectic documentation in one week.
This was for the first time that budget was finalised simultaneosly in all the Panchayast on same day. The ACD informed that against the availability of Rs 1705 lakh an amount of Rs 771 lakh was spent for 2219 works under MGNREGA and 100% targets will be achieved during the current quarter.
The DDC issued instructions for according priority to convergence projects and further stressed upon the officers to take up at least one work in each ward so as to provide employment to the masses at door steps. He also directed for construction of wooden foot bridges in remote areas on a mission mode approach and development of watershed projects as approved by the district convergence committee.
He asked the BDOs to compulsorily ensure social audit in all the panchayats to ensure transparency and involvement of masses in a fair process. Lauding the efforts of Rural Development Department for finalising the budget well in advance, the DDC called for inclusive development under MGNREGA.
While reviewing progress of Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA), the DDC Stressed upon to implement the programme on projectised mode based on saturation model so that all panchayats in the district are made open deification free (ODF) in a phased and time bound manner.
The meeting was attended by the ADDC, Bikram Singh Jamwal, Assistant Commissioner Development Reasi, District Panchayat Officer Reasi and Block Development Officers of Reasi, Pouni, Arnas and Mahore blocks
