BANIHAL, Oct 18: Six day trekking expedition, organised by Army in collaboration with J&K Tourism Department, concluded here today.
The students from different areas of J&K and neighbouring states participated with great enthusiasm and explored different places in Banihal. All the facilities were provided by the Army to the trekkers.
During the expedition, they interacted with locals at different locations and especially with tribal communities during their enroute.
“It was a new experience for them as they travelled through different areas and they got information of local medicinal plants, their importance and also about local food,” said Rabiya Shafiq, a social activist who was also part of this expedition and said that Army managed each and every thing for them and did their best and make this event successful.
Another trekker said that it was a unique experience as they held some special interaction camps with locals and explored the unexplored beauty of Banihal and adjoining areas. They thanked Indian Army RR12 for organising this expedition for students from across India.
On the last day of the event, the participants interacted with the students of GDC Banihal where social activist Rabiya Shafiq briefed them about the Army’s initiatives for the public.
