JAMMU, Oct 20: Soham Kamotra of Jammu and Kashmir won a Bronze medal in Asian Youth Chess Championship held in Indonesia in the Under-18 age category.
During the championship, Soham played exceptionally well to win the medal.
He is continuously performing well in international events. He has become the first ever Chess player from Jammu and Kashmir to win a medal in Asian Youth Chess Championship.
Earlier, he became the first ever player from J&K to get International Master Norm.
Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association congratulated Soham Kamotra for this historic medal for India and J&K. Definitely his performance will boost other youngsters’ morale, he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that he had won a Gold medal in the National Under-18 Chess Championship three months back. He was fully sponsored by SAI for this Asian Championship.
