KPUF, PK for immediate settlement of package employees’ issues

JAMMU, Oct 22: A joint meeting was held today between the leaders of Panun Kashmir (PK) & Kashmiri Pandit United Front (KPUF) to discuss the issues of displaced KPs.
The leaders who attended the meeting included Virender Raina, president PK and Satish Kissu, convener KPUF. The front line leaders and activists KPUF who participated in the meeting included Sunil Tickoo, general secretary, Satish Khuda, chief spokesman, H Handoo secretary, C L Zutshi, Opender Wangoo, Neelu Zutshi, president, Women’s Wing, Vijay Kumari, Deepak Pandita, B. N. Peer and Sameer Aima. The PK leaders and activists who participated included Kamal Bagati general secretary, Sameer Bhat, Ashok Chrungoo, Kewal Krishen, P. K. Bhan, N.M.Gadroo, Virender Koul and Surinder Koul among others.
Virender Raina, while addressing appealed to the Government to release the withheld salaries of the package employees on the eve of Diwali. The children and the elderly parents of these employees have been suffering for no fault of theirs and they need to be given a sense of belonging.
Government has been unable to ensure the safety of these employees posted in the Valley and as result they have become victims of target killings on a regular basis, spreading terror and a sense of insecurity amongst the rank and file of these employees, he said.
“We are also hopeful that a Committee constituted in this regard would have all these considerations in mind and would do full justice with them. The members also urged upon the Government to appoint a Committee on pattern of Jammu based employees posted in Valley for package employees and they should be brought under similar rules and regulations that govern the conditions of service of all Government employees”.
Satish Kissu, convenor (KPUF) said that “We have always maintained that job packages are an economic measure meant for day today sustenance of the community and need to be differentiated from permanent return and rehabilitation of the KP community in Kashmir”. He said KP community is victim of genocide and their resettlement in Kashmir is a huge political issue and needs to be dealt with politically. The only way to resettle these genocide victims is by the creation of a separate Union Territory in Kashmir with the full flow of Indian Constitution and national ethos.
