JAMMU, Oct 27: J&K UT Powerlifting team brought laurels for the Union Territory by winning six medals including 4 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medals in the recently concluded Senior and Master Men and Women Classic National Powerlifting Championship, held at Chandrapur Maharashtra.
In this championship Amita Devi won Gold medal and also won Best Lifter Second Runner-up of India in 57kg Senior category and created National record in Squat event by lifting 150 Kg, while Vickramjit Singh won Gold medal in plus120kg Senior category and created two National record in squat and total by lifting 356KG and 846kg in total and Shalinder Charak won Gold medal in Master-I 93 Kg category and created another National record in Deadlift event by lifting 260 kg, besides Umesh Raina won Gold Medal in Master-I 105kg category.
Vikramdeep secured Silver medal in Senior 105 Kg, by lifting 687.5kg total, while Amandeep Basan won Bronze medal in Senior 93 category by lifting 700 kg total and Puneet Kour won Bronze medal in Senior 47 Kg category in individual bench press and Parveen Kumar won Bronze medal in Master-I 83 Kg category in individual bench press.
The team was honoured by the officials of the Association for their achievement.
