JAMMU, Oct 31: Jodhamal Public School celebrated its ‘Annual Sports Day’ in the School sports ground with great zeal and fervor, wherein Ashok Sinha (AIG – CISF), was the chief guest and Nandan Kuthiala, as guest of honour.
The series of events started with the March Past by NCC cadets of Naval wing and Army wings were commanded by Mukul Dev Verma and Gayatri Charak respectively which were trained by Kusum Abrol and Poonam Sarmal, followed by the ceremonial torch led by Aditya Abrol and the various National and State players of the School.
Nandita Mehta, Ciya Gupta and Aditya Abrol, all sports captains welcomed the chief guest and the dignitaries and asked the players to play with the spirit of sportsmanship and to follow the discipline of the game.
School Principal, Dr Deep Khare in his speech welcomed the guests, parents and all the spectators and narrated the importance of the sports.
Nearly 50 races were held like Skatathon, 100 meters race, 200 meters race, 4 x 100 meters relay race, 800 metre race, sack race, big ball race, bucket ball race, uniform race, 1500 meters and obstacle race as well as 300 medals were distributed among the winners.
Ashok Sinha emphasized the importance of sports and said that it was a pleasure to see how students of the School had eluded the addiction of social media and were breaking away from the constraints of the four walls of the household and were actively nurturing their skills according to their potential to build a harmonious spirit.
The best sports trophy went to the Enterprise house, while Challenge house stood runners up. Athlete of the year award went to Aditya Abrol from senior wing.
The meet culminated with the soothing and pious shlok by the talented choir group of JMPS, followed by the National Anthem. A vote of thanks was proposed by School sports captain Ciya Gupta and Nandita Mehta.
