District Table Tennis C’ship commences

UDHAMPUR, Oct 31: Three days long District Udhampur Open Table Tennis Championship commenced at Indoor Sports Hall, here today.
The championship is being organised under the aegis of J&K Table Tennis Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under the initiative of ‘My Youth My Pride’.
Dr Bhishm Dubey, SDPO Ramnagar was the chief guest, while Raghubir Singh SHO Udhampur was the guest of honour.
Earlier, a floral tribute was paid to the late Devinder Sharma (Munna Thanda) former general secretary, while general secretary of the Association, Tarun presented a welcome address.
SDPO Dr Bhishm wished all the participants and the organisers for the championship and appreciated the young talent of the district. He said that the District Table Tennis Association is working continuously to uplift the talent of youngsters.
Around 150 participants from every nook and corner of the district participated in this championship in cadet boys, sub-junior boys, sub-junior girls, junior girls categories.
In cadet boys: Prajwal Bandral defeated Paras Bhardwaj by 2-0, Shashwat Tripathi beat Mohit Sharma by 2-1, whereas in sub junior boys: Kanav Gupta trounced Anmol Singh by 2-0 and Lakshyadeep Singh defeated Manish Singh by 2-1 and in sub junior girls: Upasana Sharma beat Suhani Satyal by 2-1, besides in junior girls: Gungun Sharma beat Varsha Jamwal by 2-1.
On the occasion, Prikshit Khajuria (Treasurer), Sunny Sharma (Vice President), Achat Magotra (Executive Member), Paras Magotra, Vishal Singh, Naveen Sharma (Manager Subash Stadium Udhampur) and many others were present.
The matches were officiated by Maninder Singh, Mannat Sharma, Sahil Malgotra and Jasmeet Singh.
