DGP commissions barrack accommodation for jawans

SRINAGAR, Oct 12: Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad today called for long term planning for infrastructural development to meet the future accommodation requirements of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. He said that holistic plan has to be envisaged for police housing and other related requirements of the Organisation.
Mr. Prasad was inaugurating two blocks of 5-storied buildings at Babateng Pattan this afternoon under the Modernisation, Alternate and Accommodation Programme of JKP.  He said that several works have been carried out to enhance building infrastructure, and to provide better living facilities to the personnel. He said under the scheme various construction works have been taken in hand in every district of the State. Special focus is being paid to meet the future requirements of jawans and officers working in different areas of the State, said Mr. Prasad.
Mr. Prasad stressed upon the officers and engineers, who were accompanying him along with the Managing Director, Police Housing Corporation  (PHC). Dilbag Singh that they should ensure quality material in the construction of residential and office complexes. He appreciated the PHC for completing the works in a record period of time. He also asked them to complete the remaining works presently under execution in the valley, which could suffice the facilities for the personal working in different areas in the State.
Earlier, Dilbag Singh apprised the DGP about the drawings of newly constructed barrack blocks, adding that about 300 personnel could be accommodated in these barracks and rooms. He said that the blocks have been completed by the PHC in a record period of two years at a cost of Rs. 3 crores. The blocks are having 24 barracks, 24 rooms with bathrooms, mess-cum-dining halls, equipment and clothing stores.
Among others, the DGP was accompanied by DIG (NKR), J.P. Singh, DIG Traffic (Kashmir), Jagjit Kumar, SP Baramulla, Zubair Ahmed Khan, Executive Engineer (PHC), Nissar Ahmed Khan, SDPO, Pattan, Faiyaz Ahmed, AEE, Fareed Ahmed and other police officer.
