Inter-school group dance competition organised

JAMMU, Nov 7: Model Academy, the prestigious School of MIER, organised an inter-school contemporary group dance competition under the banner of Jammu Sahodhya School Complex, here today.
Top 22 CBSE schools of Jammu participated in the event on the theme “Darkness to Light.”
The occasion was graced by Dr Kunal Anand, Vice-President Jammu Sahodhya and Principal DPS Udhampur as the guest of honour. Other dignitaries present were Rupa Gupta, Jt. Director MIER, Dr Pramod Kumar Srivastava, Principal, JK Dhiman, Vice-Principal, faculty members, students and teachers from various schools of CBSE.
The programme commenced with lighting of lamps, followed by ‘Saraswati Vandana’ by the choir of the School.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kunal Anand congratulated the participants for their spectacular performances. He further added that through competitions students gain a better understanding of how to deal with conflicting opinions and ideas.
Dr Srivastava in his address lauded the efforts of Schools and reiterated that participation is equally rewarding as winning the prize. The programme was judged by a panel of eminent choreographers of Jammu, Poonam Handa, Raj Sabhgotra and Tarun Sayal.
First place was bagged by Model Academy, 2nd place went to Doon International School and 3rd place was bagged by APS Akhnoor, whereas consolation prizes were bagged by DPS Udhampur and Jammu Sanskriti School. The welcome speech was presented by Khyrul Nissa, Head Girl of the School and vote of thanks was presented by Saksham Khajuria, Head Boy.
The event was anchored by Mrigank Salathia and coordinated by Manju Vali and Mohini Thappa.
