Best athletes posing alongwith dignitaries during Inter-District Athletic Meet in Jammu on Monday.

JAMMU, Oct 14: Yasmeen Akhtar of Samba, Roshan Bibi of Kathua and Aditi Uppal of Jammu clinched gold in 100 Mtrs Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 years girls sprint in the Divisional Level Inter-District (Girls) Athletic Meet, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Jammu University Grounds, here today.
Kulvinder Kour of Jammu and Reena Sharma of Kathua clinched silver and bronze medals respectively in 100 Mtrs Under-14 girls, while, Sakshi Koul of Jammu and Sapna Devi of Samba claimed silver and bronze in 100 Mtrs Under-17 girls and the silver and bronze in 100 Mtrs Under-19 girls went to Sony Saini of Kathua and Manisha Kumari of Rajouri respectively.
The Meet, in which around 184 athletes drawn from various Districts of Jammu province participated, was inaugurated by the chief guest Parvez Malik, Secretary Youth Services and Sports in an impressive, colourful and well attended function.
Dhian S Bhau, Director Physical Education and Sports, University of Jammu was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Mr Malik, in his address while highlighting the importance of games and sports, said that sports serves for delight, for ornament and for agility, apart from infusing spirit and discipline among the players.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of Naveen Aggarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports and under the overall supervision of Ved Prakash, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu.
Kanchan Bala, Deputy Director (Central) Youth Services and Sports presented a memento to the chief guest as a token of gratitude from the organisers.
Later, Tirath Ram, DYSSO Jammu presented vote of thanks.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were ZPEOs Sarita Pandha, Jeet Singh, Saroman Dogra, Mohan Singh and Sher Singh.
Meanwhile, in 600 Mtrs Under-14 girls, Priya Sharma of Jammu, Huma Bibi of Samba and Arti Devi of Udhampur claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in 800 Mtrs Under-17 gilrs, Anju Sharma of Reasi bagged gold, Jamila Akhtar of Jammu clinched silver and Pooja Devi of Ramban claimed bronze and in 800 Mtrs Under-19 girls, the gold, silver and bronze medals went to Kiran Devi of Jammu, Nirmal Devi of Kathua and Chitti Devi of Reasi respectively.
