Rijiju’s charge against Nehru fallacious : Cong

Excelsior Correspondent
Jammu, Nov 15: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress has termed the charge of union Law Minister Kiran Rijiju against Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru as fallacious which has been even falsified by former Sadr-e-Riyasat Dr Karan Singh in his recent write up.
BJP and it’s government has fielded Union Law Minister Kiran Rijiju and several others to target Pt Nehru, since BJP believes that the country can’t forget the role and contributions of first Prime Minister, during freedom struggle and in laying the foundations of modern India, so it has intensified it’s campaign to mislead the people by distortions of historical facts to malign his image, JKPCC leader & former MLC, Ravinder Sharma said.
He said that Rijiju’s charge that Pt Nehru delayed the accession whereas Maharaja was ready to acceede in July 1947, has not been substantiated by Dr Karan Singh, who has rather contradicted the same when he wrote that then Dy Prime Minister might have informally suggested it but had no authority of Maharaja. No one knows better than Dr Karan Singh about it , who had demolished the theory Mr Rijiju, which has irked the later.
Dr Singh has also echoed the view that Jammu and Kashmir was a special case for the reason that it had 80 percent Muslim population and no one should ignore the fact also that it was the religion which was the basis division of the country.
It is in this context, Pt Nehru was right when he secured the popular support obviously that of the popular Muslim based political party, to defeat the nefarious design of two nation theory of Jinnah, who had once declared Kashmir a blank cheque in his pocket .
Sharma asserted that the covering letter of Maharaja, dated 26, 1947, with the instrument of Accession, clearly lays down the circumstances and situation before Maharaja, leading to the delay in the signing of instrument of accession, wherein he has stated that he was taking time to decide about joining India/ Pakistan or remain independent with cordial relationship with both countries. He further states that in view of the grave emergency (Pakistan’s attack), he is sending the document of accession, without which India can’t send forces to defend the territory of the state.
Although, it is merely a vain attempt by BJP and the likes to distort and mislead the generations, for vested political interests, otherwise Pt Nehru deserves the unanimous credit for his historical role and efforts to bring Jammu and Kashmir to Indian fold, defeating Jinnah’s two nation theory.
