Dandiya bags 1st place in Folk Dance Competition

JAMMU, Oct 15: “Folk Dance” Competition was conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu under the Inter-Collegiate/Departmental “Display Your Talent” 2013-14 at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, here.
Gujarati Folk Dance “Dandiya” presented by the Govt Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, bagged the First Prize whereas Dogri Folk Dance “Jagrana” presented by Bharatiya College of Education, Udhampur and Rajasthani Folk Dance presented by Govt Women College, Parade, Jammu, were adjudged as Second and Third, respectively.
“Thaali Dance” local Dance of Ramban District presented by the team from Govt Degree College, Ramban, bagged the Special Prize for their performance.
Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, echoed with the thunderous applause by the audience on every good piece of performance, performed by the participants.
Dr Inderjeet Singh, Registrar, GNDU, Amritsar and Anuradha Seth Kohli, were adjudicators of the said event. The judges really had a tough time in preparing the results.
Lida Singh, First Lady on the Campus, was the chief guest on this occasion and distributed the prizes amongst the winner teams.
Dr Ritu Mahajan, The School of Bio-Technology, was the Teacher Incharge of this event who apprised the participants about the rules and regulations of the contest.
The programme was compeered by Apoorva Jamwal, Secretary, Students Cultural Council, whereas Joginder Singh Acted as Time Keeper.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Neeru Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof N K Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, Prof Jasbir Singh, Provost Hostels (Boys), JK Sharma, Special Secretary to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Shailendra Singh, Associate Dean (SW), Dr Madhulika Singh and Vinay Thusoo, Public Relations Officers, University of Jammu.
