JAMMU, Nov 20: Two day long District Jammu Weightlifting Championship, organised by District Association, concluded at Sports Stadium RS Pura, here today.
More than 100 players in both boys and girls participated in the championship which was sponsored by J&K Sports Council.
The J&K Weightlifting Association is committed to promote weightlifting among all sections of the society with special focus on the rural population, said Harbajan Singh while speaking at the closing ceremony of the championship as chief guest.
Earlier the championship was inaugurated by Yudhvir Singh, general secretary of the J&K Weightlifting Association.
Ravi Singh, Dhanraj Singh, Amit Sharma, Dinesh Pathania, Naman Singh, Akash Virdhi, Manjeet Singh, Abhishek, Naveen and others were present during the event.
Nirmal Singh & Yogeshwar Singh stood 1st and 2nd in 96 kg youth, while Arun Raj (1st in senior), Simanshu Sharma (1st in 102 kg senior), Satvik Luthra (1st) and Sakshm Singh (2nd) in youth 109 kg, Abhinav Sharma, Sunny Jamwal & Taranjit Singh stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in youth category, in youth 73kg, Narinder Lalotra, Kartik Kumar & Ayush Dubey remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In junior, Utkarsh Sharma stood 1st, in senior-Rahul Chopra (1st) and Amrinder Singh (2nd), whereas in youth 81kg, Sahil Sharma, Anmol Singh & Moksh Gupta clinched top three positions respectively, Pankaj Kumar (1st) in junior and Manpreet Singh, Rishab Dogra & Rahil Rajput secured top three places in senior respectively.
In youth 89kg, Gukul (1st), Harsh Singh-2nd & Nishant Jalotra-3rd, while in junior Aditya Sambyal-1st and in senior Akash-1st, besides in 55kg youth, Vasu-1st & Navdeep-2nd, in junior Himanshu-1st and in senior Anil and Anirudh stood 1st and 2nd, in 61kg, youth Ashman-1st, Krish -2nd and Sanatan Ch-3rd , in junior Ranjesh Singh-1st and in senior Prashant Sharma and Sourabh Sharma stood 1st and 2nd respectively.
In 67kg youth, Harsh-1st, Daksh Deep-2nd and Prikshit Arya-3rd, while in junior Nirbhay Partap-1st and in senior, Kewal-1st, Amit-2nd and Sourab -3rd, in 55kg senior Ritika-1st and Sakshi-2nd in women category, in senior Dimple-1st, in junior Palak, Kavya, Akam Kour and Kaushm stood 1st in different category and in youth Priyanshi-1st, SharonJames -1st in junior, Nandni-1st in junior and Priyam Sharma-1st in senior.
