Sarthak, Paras guide Academy Blue to huge win

JAMMU, Oct 17: Splendid knocks by Sarthak Peshin and Paras Khajuria guided Academy Blue to a huge win by a margin of 156 runs over Academy Reds in Under-14 boys Col RN Chopra Challenge Cup Cricket Tournament, being held at Academy Grounds, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Academy Blue rode a superb knock of 67 runs by Sarthak Peshin and a valuable innings of 48 runs by Paras Khajuria scored a mammoth total of 250 runs in the stipulated 30 overs. Sarthak scored the runs in 53 balls and hit 10 magnificent boundaries. Aditya Uppal and Aryan Gandral contributed 28 and 26 runs to the total respectively. For Academy Red, Vidhant Handa was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 5 important wickets by conceding 33 runs in his 6 overs.
In reply, Academy Red, bundled out for a paltry total of 94 runs in 17 overs to lose the match by a big margin of 156 runs. Akshun Singh was the top scorer with 39 runs, while Harsh Dev Singh contributed 18 runs to the total. For Academy Blue, Abhishek, Marutwan and Aryan Gandral claimed 2 wickets each, while Sarthak bagged one. For his brilliant knock of 67 runs, Sarthak was adjudged man of the match.
In another match of Under-12 boys category, RN Chopra Academy Green defeated Sidhant Cricket Academy by 43 runs in a T20 game. Academy Green, batting first, scored 131 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 4 wickets in the progress. Danish Sharma (28), Ritvik (24) and Tanvir Singh (22) were the main contributors. For Sidhant Academy, Pratyush took 2 wickets.
Sidhant Academy, in reply, managed to score 88 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, thus lost the match by 43 runs. Cherian was the top scorer with 26 runs.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of Rakesh Basin, organizing secretary, Zabeer Ahmad, Sukomal Ganguly, coach and Deepak Dogra, assistant coach.
