Postal Deptt to host first ever cricket tourney

SRINAGAR, Oct 19:  The Postal Department is going to host a first ever All India Postal Cricket Tournament from October 21 to 25 in Srinagar.
Chief Post Master General, Chandra Prakash told reporters here more than 220 players and officials are participating for 13 teams from all over the country in the tournament.
“Teams from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Odhisa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and host Jammu & Kashmir are participating in the tournament,” Prakash said.
“The hosting of All India Level Tournament in Srinagar will boost the morale of the local cricketers and give them wide exposure. All India Postal Cricket Tournament will increase the cricket fervor in the Srinagar and build the sports infrastructure in the State,” Prakash said.
Prakash said that the five-day tournament will be played at three venues in Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Kashmir University Cricket Stadium and Islamia College Cricket Stadium in which a total of 19 matches will be played.
The Chief Post Master General said that the tournament will showcase J&K as an excellent destination for sports and tourism.
The tournament will be inaugurated by Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir on October 21 at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar.
Earlier J&K had successfully hosted the All India Postal Athletic Tournament in the year 2011 and All India Postal Football Tournament in the year 2012.
