JAMMU, Oct 20: Akhnoor police today arrested a bootlegger and recovered 40 pouches of illicit liquor from his possession.
A police spokesman said that, on specific information, police party from Akhnoor Police Station laid a naka at Fawara Chowk and intercepted a pedestrian.
During frisking, police recovered 40 pouches of illicit liquor and arrested the bootlegger, who has been identified as Kamaljeet, son of Gulaboo Ram of Kodaywala.
A case under FIR number 235/13 and under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Akhnoor Police Station and investigation started.
Police party led by SHO Pardeep Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Rayees Mohammad Bhat.
