UDHAMPUR, Dec 9: Traffic through Chenani-Nashri tunnel remained suspended for more than four hours due to power shut down this afternoon.
Vehicular movement between Chenani and Nashri was diverted through Patnitop as the 9-km long tunnel remained closed from 12 noon to 4 pm.
The tunnel was closed because of already scheduled power shutdown taken by the PDD authorities for carrying out some urgent work. Prior information in this regard had already been provided to district administration of Udhampur as well as Ramban besides the National Highway Traffic authorities. Pertinent to mention that the UPS installed for Chenani-Nashri tunnel has only 40 minutes back up.
Normal traffic through the tunnel was restored around 4.20 pm.
