UDHAMPUR, Dec 10: DPS Udhampur celebrated Annual Sports Meet of primary wing amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie, here today.
The dignitaries were extended a floral and formal welcome by the Pro Vice Chairman Dr JC Gupta followed by the Principal sharing a brief report of the School’s sports activities and achievements of students.
This was entailed by the hoisting of School Flag and declaration of the meet open, followed by the lighting of the flame by releasing air lanterns and fireworks to mark the expression of joy and merriment.
The program began with March Past by the four house contingents of the primary wing student. The junior head boy Aanav and junior head girl Sanika welcomed the guest and parents.
The most intriguing aspect, embellishing the event was the field events based on the theme “Fit Body, Fit Mind, Fit Environment”, involving mass student participation. The winners of various events were given medals, trophies and certificates.
The Rigveda house was adjudged as best house in the sports events, while Samveda house conferred the overall best house in sports events.
Balwant Singh Mankotia, former MLA was the chief guest of the closing ceremony, while guests of honour were Pawan Khajuria, Anissa Nabi, State Tax Officer and Mansi Rattan, Director MG Design.
The special guests present at the closing ceremony were MD of the School Vivek Gupta Sir, Director Academics of the School, Sucheta Gupta and Principal of the School Dr Kunal Anand.
The meet was declared closed by the chief guest. While addressing the students, he congratulated the team DPSU for such a spectacular event and congratulated all the winners. He emphasised that sports is an integral part of any institution and all students must participate in the same.
The program concluded with a finale performance that proved to be the highlight of the whole event.
