JAMMU, Oct 21: The cricket community of the State is all set to make merry as the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) is holding 9 Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) matches in the State beginning with an Under-25 Col CK Nayudu Plate Group B match from October 28 to October 31, 2013 at Srinagar.
The Association will organize 4 Ranji Trophy matches, 3 Under-25 match, one Under-19 and one Under-16 match here.
The Under-25 match of October 28 will be followed by a Ranji Trophy Plate Group C league match at Srinagar from November 7 to November 11, 2013, while an Under-25 match will be held almost simultaneously at Jammu from November 8 to November 11, 2013, which will be followed by an Under-25 match at Jammu from November 15 to November 18, 2013.
JKCA will also be holding a Ranji Trophy 4-day match at Jammu from November 28 to December 1, 2013, which will be followed by an Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy match from December 6 to December 8, 2013 at Jammu.
The last match of the season to be hosted by JKCA will be an Under-19 match to be held from December 14 to Daecember 17, 2013.
Meanwhile, J&K has begun the season with a positive note in absence of the coaches from outside the State as J&K thrashed Haryana in Vinoo Mankad Under-19 Trophy by 6 wickets. So, for the better results in future games also, the time is ripe for JKCA to hire former cricketers of repute to accompany the State teams as coaches. Former J&K skipper and all-rounder, Vijay Sharma, Abdul Qayoom, Ashwani Gupta and Kavaljeet Singh are a few cricketers to name, who should be appointed coaches for the desired results. These cricketers apart from having technical wisdom, possess communicative skills also.
