Taj inaugurates 1st All India Postal Cricket Tournament

SRINAGAR, Oct 21: Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today inaugurated the first ever All India Postal Cricket Tournament organized by Department of Posts, here.
Addressing the inaugural function, the Minister appreciated the J&K Postal Circle for organizing the event. He said cricket has a passionate appeal among youth and the game is very popular among the masses.
Mr Taj said the State Government has taken up a massive programme of upgrading sports infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir, adding that under the programme sports complexes and stadia would be raised at every block and the facilities would also be strengthened.
The tournament will last for 5 days and matches will be played at three grounds namely Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Kashmir University Cricket Stadium and Islamia College Cricket Stadium. 19 matches will be played in the tournament which will conclude on October 25, 2013.
The participating teams are from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Odhisa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and host Jammu and Kashmir Postal Circles.
