NYK organizes sports tournament at Sumwan

KATHUA, Dec 13: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) organized a Block level sports tournament on the theme “No Drugs – No Rash Driving” at Sumwan in Barnoti in which over 150 youth participated, here today.
In Kabaddi, Sports Club Timer Sher won the trophy and cash prize by defeating Youth Club Sumwan, while in Volleyball, Sport Club Nagri lifted the trophy by trouncing Youth Club Sumwan, in Tug of War, Sumwan team scripted a win by defeating Nangal team.
Ragunandan Singh Vice Chairman, DDC Kathua was chief guest and inaugurated the tournament on Day-2 and gave away the mementoes to the winners of Athletics events.
In his address, he appreciated the sports activities organized by NYK and underlined the importance of sports in the overall development of personality.
Suresh Kumar Chib, Additional SP Kathua was guest of honour and in his address he guided and motivated the youth to involve themselves in sports activities to keep physically and mentally strong to face any challenges of life.
Som Datt Zard, Deputy Director, NYK Kathua highlighted the aims and objectives of the events and sensitized the youth on drug abuse and rash driving.
At the closing function, BS Indu, Chairman BDC was chief guest, while Yugesh Koundal Sarpanch, Sarpanch Happy, Mohd Yaqab, Kabaddi Association were also present during the closing ceremony.
