Protest against bad condition of lanes, drains in Residency Road

JAMMU, Dec 16: District general secretary Congress and president Beopar Mandal, Gurmeet Singh led a protest in the Jammu East Constituency against condition of the lanes, drains, drainage system, for worst condition in Residency Road area.
The protest was also against inadequate JMC arrangements to deal with the fast growing infections/ fevers/ viruses etc. cases prevailing in Jammu city. The protesters were expressing serious condition over the neglect on the part of JMC and the District Administration. The drains are over flowing at various locations and they are not cleared. The manholes are also uncovered at some points inviting accidents.
Singh said one can see the condition of VIP Road leading to CM House/ Wazarat Road through residency Road in the Centre of the City. The foot paths are also encroached upon. This area of the City gives a pathetic look and the tourists go by taking bad impression of Jammu city. Many offices like Tourism are also situated nearby.
Singh requested the JMC Commissioner and DC Jammu to issue necessary instructions to the concerned authorities for doing the needful as early as possible so that this VIP Road including the mentioned areas give a very beautiful look and would add in the beauty of the areas. In this way this will also effect to the business community. This also comes under Swacch Bharat Abhiyan.
He said four years back the sufficient funds were released to maintain all these and being inaugurated by BJP MLA and R&B but post inauguration it is left out as orphan baby. Nobody bothers about this area.
Gurmeet said the heaps of garbage, waste material are seen everywhere and welcome the outsiders who so ever visits Jammu East Assembly constituency localities, in the Residency Road, Kanak Mandi, Shahidi Chowk, Ragunath Bazar and Rajinder Bazar.
He said it is JMC’s duty to take care of proper functioning of street drains and lanes, as people are paying huge taxes for this. The amenities in the city like roads, sewer system, parks and other infrastructure facilities like lighting, as well as for maintenance of the existing infrastructure is looked after by JMC but they fail in their basic commitments to provide hassle free services.
