JAMMU, Dec 20: Girdhari Lal Raina @ Ajey Bharti , former MLC and spokesperson, BJP-JK UT has demanded assured security and accommodation for all those employees belonging to religious minority community.
Tendency to undermine threats and warnings issued by terrorist outfits has proved counterproductive in past and precious lives were lost in the process, he reminded. Minority community employees who come to serve in the Valley including employees recruited through Non- PM package, SC category and from other parts of the country are genuinely and visibly concerned about security of life.
He said heightened security scare of employees is further aggravated by their apprehensive seniors in administration and isn’t ill founded, he added. Difficulty to find secure accommodation in light of recent incidents of targeted killings has enhanced the potential threat, added Ex-MLC.
Reacting to the statement of DGP Dilbag Singh terming hit-list of KP employees to be aimed at creating panic, BJP spokesperson asked for clarification. Does it mean there is no threat to the life of these employees and if any untoward incident happens who will be responsible, he enquired? Police Chief and administration must, assure protesting employees accordingly.
He stressed that realistic approach and sensitivity was required in working particularly while dealing with scared employees from minority communities.
Terrorists and saboteurs of peace, harmony and tranquility though down and feeble yet they are not completely out, expressed Raina. Irresponsible behaviour and provocative statements by some so-called mainstream power-hungry politicians administration is adding to stress of frightened employees, he opined.
Ex-MLC also raised the issue of harassment of those employees who decided to join and resume their duties. He asked senior officers in the administration to look into the difficulties faced by these employees. He demanded release of salaries of these employees as their families are in acute financial distress, unable to pay medical bills, school fee of their wards and even grocery bills in majority cases. GL Raina emphasised that even suspended employees are entitled to subsistence allowance. He hoped that UT administration will take a proactive stand involve protesting employees in a meaningful dialogue to resolve the impasse.
