JAMMU, Dec 20: The 2nd day of the championship which was scheduled for Under-11, 13 & 15 age categories, witnessed some thrilling encounters TODAY where young and budding peddlers gave their hundred percent to get the better of their opponents.
The Championship was organised at Indoor Complex MA Stadium.
In the hopes girls (Under 11) category, Shristi and Elina emerged as winners and entered the finals. In the semi-final, Shristi trounced Myrah Dewan by 3-2 in a close contest, where Myrah left no stone unturned but Shristi held her nerve to advance ahead. The 2nd semi final was won by Elina who defeated Ridhimi by 3-1. In the hopes boys, Saiyam and Samar booked their final birth.
The under-13 girls category witnessed sheer determination from the young girls starting with Syrah Dewan. A six year old and the youngest to participate in the championship this year showed intent and courage right from the start, eventually upsetting some big names before bowing out in the quarter-finals. Nitya Arora and Yasha continued their form from the last year and advanced further without much resistance from their opponents.
In hopes girls (Under-11) quarter-finals, Myrah beat Aarya by 3-0, Srishti defeated Anvi by 3-0, Ridhimi beat Bhavin by 3-0 and Elina defeated Syrah 3-2, while in semi-finals, Shristi beat Myrah by 3-2, Elina trounced Ridhimi 3-1 and in hopes boys quarterfinals, Prajwal beat Adhvik by 3-1, Saiya trounced Awadh by 3-1, Shaswat defeated Akshar by 3-2, Samar trounced Aryman by 3-1 and Aksar got better of Yuvraj by 3-2.
In cadet girls, Syrah defeated Himnika by 3-0, Aarushika trounced Upasna by 3-0, Rutba Bashir beat Anvi by 3-1, Gunjan defeated Bhavin by 3-0 and Srishti beat Elina by 3-1, whereas in pre quarterfinals, Syrah beat Rutba by 3-0, Yashashree trounced Kritika by 3-0 and Nitya defeated Aarushika by 3-0.
The matches were officiated by Meenu Rajesh, Asad Sharma and Vasu Dewan.
