JAMMU, Dec 25: An awareness camp under the aegis of ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur’ was organized by the Horticulture Department at Kot Garhi Panchayat in Akhnoor, here today.
Horticulture District Officer Akhnoor, Varinder Kumar along with other officials including Sanjay Kumar and Rakesh Verma were present during the camp.
The resource person threw light on the importance of farming in the modern world and focused on adopting modern techniques. He also discussed different welfare schemes of the department and the importance of establishing fruit orchards.
During the camp, the participants were acquainted with the centrally sponsored schemes meant for the upliftment of farmers and orchardists. He urged the farmers to come forward and associate with the Horticulture Department and avail the benefits of different components viz establishment of nurseries, installation of poly-houses, community bore-wells, construction of pack houses, horticultural machinery, micro irrigation etc. for improving their socio- economic status.
The camp was attended by Sarpanch Jagdish Kumar along with PRI members and a large number of farmers. An extensive tour of the Panchayat was also carried out and queries of people were resolved during the camp.
