POONCH, Dec 25: In two separate incidents of fire , two shops and a residential house were gutted in Mendhar and Surankot area of Poonch.
Reports said that property worth lakhs was gutted in a major fire incident in a Cosmetic and Readymade garments shops near Jama Masjid, Main Market in Mendhar town last night.
Even as the fire brigade soon reached the spot and controlled the blazes with the help of locals, all the items in both the shops had reduced to ashes by then.
According to the preliminary investigation, the apparent cause of fire was short circuit. Yasir Khan and Ayaz Khan, owners of both the shops, said that they had taken a Bank loan of lakhs of rupees for running the shops where goods worth lakhs of rupees were kept. Police has registered a case in this connection.
Meanwhile, a residential house was completely gutted in fire at Nandyali area of Suranakot.
According to the reports, the fire spread so fast that the house turned into a pile of ashes . The victims were able to save their lives with great difficulty and the rest of the house and other necessities of life were completely burnt.
The house belonged to Muhammad Sadiq, son of Wali Muhammad, resident of Nandyali. Surankot Police has taken cognizance of the fire incident.
