JAMMU, Oct 25: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) XI, Simula XI and Jammu Gymkhana Club registered emphatic victories over their rivals to stay alive in the Eid-Diwali Milan T20 Cricket Cup, which is being played at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the first match JKP XI defeated Eleven Star by 51 runs.
Batting first, JKP XI scored 163 runs in stipulated 20 overs for loss of 6 wickets. Farooq top scored with 66 runs, while Pankaj Lada and Amit contributed 44 and 20 runs to the total respectively. Sunny and Vikrant took 2 wickets each for Eleven Star XI.
Eleven Star, in reply bundled out for 112 runs and lost the match by 52 runs. Sunny was the main contributor with 21 runs, while Tarun, Arun and Atul scored 17 runs each. Skipper Rajesh Gill scalped 5 wickets for his team, while Shamsher Singh, Ashwani and Sakib took 2, 2, and 1 wicket respectively. Rajesh Gill declared man of the match.
In the second match, Simula XI scripted a comfortable win against Atman Sports Club.
Batting first, Atman scored 142 runs in 20 overs with Jaswinder (58), Surya (30) and Chetan (20) being the main scorers. Nitin Mehra took 3 wickets, while Sameer Khajuria took 2 wickets for Simula XI.
In reply, Simula XI achieved the target in 18 overs by losing 6 wickets. Dhruv Mahajan was the top scorer with 40 runs, while Shashi and Atul contributed 37 and 30 runs respectively. Shubam took 3 wickets, Sourav took 2 and Shivdutt one 1 wicket for Atman Sports Club. Dhruv Mahajan was adjudged man of the match.
In another match, Jammu Gymkhana thrashed B.C.C. by 4 wickets in a easy contest. Nipun top scored with unbeaten 52 runs.
