Pensioners Welfare Association to launch State wide protest against Govt

JAMMU, Oct 26: J&K Pensioners Welfare Association held a meeting under the chairmanship of its State president Sampat Parkash and decided to launch State wide protest against Government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
During the meeting, the participants condemned the callous attitude of the State Government towards State pensioners.
While speaking, Parkash said that the State Government has miserably failed to release the third installment of 6th Pay Commission, 10 per cent dearness allowance on Central pattern, enhancement of medical allowances from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000 per month and implementation of Senior Citizen Act.
He said that not only the pensioners, but their family members including children will also participate in the protest demonstrations.
“Leaders of various pensioners associations, human right activists, members of civil society will be invited to address seminars and conferences organized as a part of protest across the State”, he added.
