Railways in command as J&K batters falter

JAMMU, Jan 4: Railways were in command against Jammu and Kashmir as J&K bundled out for 161 runs after a batting collapse in the first innings while replying to Railways big total of 427 runs on day-2 of the Ranji Trophy Elite Grop-D match at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat today.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight total of 322/8, Railways managed to score a big total of 427 runs. Mohammad Saif top scored with unbeaten 233 runs.
For J&K, Abid Mushtaq was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 important wickets, while Umar Nazir bagged 3 wickets. Auqib Nabi and Tahir claimed 2 and 1 wicket respectively.
In reply, J&K collapsed at 161 runs to concede a sizable lead to Railways. Suryansh Raina top scored with 48 runs of 89 balls studded with 6 boundaries, while Musaif Ajaz contributed 39 runs off 91 balls with 4 fours and one six. Akash Pandey was the wrecker-in-chief for Railways, who captured 6 wickets, while MR Raut bagged 2 wickets.
J&K were 5/0 in their second essay after following on.
Skipper Shubham Khajuria and Suryansh Raina were at the crease.
