Jammu, Jan 5: Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul inaugurated New Year T20 Cricket League, jointly organised by Veterans Cricket J&K and KC Sports Club Jammu, supported by J&K Police with the slogan “Lets pledge to make Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir,” and sponsored by   Narayana Hospital Katra, Horizon Group, Game Changers and KC Sports Club at KC Sports Ground, here today.
The Secretary Sports Council declared the tournament open by releasing the balloons in the presence of Ramesh Kumar Bhat SSP, Rajesh Gill former Ranji player, Avinash Uttam, Ashish Singh, Sanjeev Sharma and RP Singh.
The chief guest said that sports should be the ingredient of our life and sports should be the basic part of our life because a good sports person is always disciplined to take every challenge of life. “A good sports person becomes a good leader and a good sportsperson is always away from the negativity and drugs,” she added.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill presented a welcome address and briefed about the league and informed about the objective of the tournament.
In the inaugural match, Naryana Life Saviours defeated KC Sports Club by 109 runs.
Batting first, Naryana Life Saviors scored 160 runs in the allotted 15 overs wherein Sunil Kumar made 53 runs, while Verinder and Amit contributed 31 and 25 runs respectively. From the bowling side, Ayan took 2 wickets, while Kanan took 1 wicket.
In reply, KC Sports Club managed to score 52 runs by losing all wickets and thus lost the match by 109 runs. Vishwajeet was the only player who scored 15 runs. From the bowling side, Sunil took 4 wickets, Prince and Verinder also took 2 wickets each. Sunil was declar as man of the match.
In another match which was played between Jammu Vishals and Lalitaditya Sports Club. Batting first Jammu Vishals scored 143 runs by losing 5 wickets in which Ashish Singh made unbeaten 51 runs, while Amritpal Singh scored 30 runs and Istiaq contributed 27 runs. From the bowling side, Vinod took 3 wickets, while Deeraj and Dalip took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Lalitaditya Sports Club managed to score only 91 runs and thus lost the match by 50 runs. Deepak scored 20 runs, Nikhil made18 runs. From the bowling side, RK Bhat and Shamsher Singh took 3 wickets each, whereas Majid took 2 wickets and Ashish Singh and Kartik Gill took 1 wicket each. Ashish Singh was declared as man of the match.
