JAMMU, Jan 7: A meeting was organised by different Cricket Clubs, affiliated with Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at Amar Singh Club, here today.
The meeting was attended by various members including ML Nehru, former vice president of BCCI. The members expressed their dismay over the conduct and behaviour of the BCCI who has acted in a manner which is detrimental to the JKCA and state of cricketing activities in J&K in addition to being in complete violation of the judgment of the High Court and Apex Court, they said.
They said that the court appointed administrators for a period of two months with a restrictive mandate of holding free election after the association amends it by laws. “However, instead of abiding by the judgement of the High Court, the CEO and Court Appointed Administration (CAA) tried to usurp the JKCA,” they alleged.
Thereafter, the sub-committee appointed by BCCI is also indulged in similar behaviour as that of earlier CAA and instead of calling the meeting of the JKCA General Council, opted to usurp the functioning of the JKCA, they said.
The meeting unanimously requested to BCCI to immediately convene the meeting of JKCA General Council, the sub-committee has no legal authority to supersede the General Council of JKCA and the cricketing activities in the union territory has immensely suffered due to transgression by consecutively appointed committees and their usurping of the powers of the JKCA members.
