JAMMU, Jan 9: Eminent theatre director and playwright, Balwant Thakur today conducted an exclusive session with the children in the ongoing children’s winter theatre workshop, here at Natrang.
Natrang has been organising children theatre training programmes in summers and winters for the past 31 years in order to give the young buds an opportunity to explore their hidden abilities.
As per a statement, this year, over thirty children are participating in the Natrang’s workshop that began on December 26, 2022 despite braving a severe cold. The workshop is organised under the mentorship of Neeraj Kant, Sunny Munjoo and Gauri Thakur.
“In this year’s workshop, a play-‘The Wizard of Oz’-is also being produced which is scheduled to be staged at Writer’s Club Auditorium, Abhinav Theatre on January 21 at 4:30 pm,” read the statement.
It said that this year’s training module of Natrang’s children theatre has been devised by Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur, who has taken the children theatre of Jammu to the entire length and breadth of the country.
“Theatre requires a higher degree of confidence, discipline, creativity, spontaneity, team spirit and consistency and those trained in Natrang’s theatre workshops imbibe all these qualities,” Balwant Thakur said in a statement.
The children who are undergoing the training in the ongoing winter workshop include Riya Jandial, Vrinda Gujral, Shranaya Mahajan, Haleema Fatima, Zainab Kubra, Shravil Mahajan, Kavya Jandial and others.
