BILLAWAR, Jan 18: Claiming that BJP Government has failed to bring any development in Billawar constituency, former Minister Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma asked the people to teach a lesson to the present Government for making them suffer on every count.
Addressing a public rally here Dr. Sharma said that the people want to get rid of such politicians who misused them after making false promises.
“Billawar is a hilly place which is far away from Kathua headquarter and need roads, water and electricity,” said Dr. Manohar.
He said that being a remote place development, electricity, water and road construction can be given here when it is given district status which is a long pending demand of the people.
Dr. Sharma also said that Billawar extends from Basohli to Dudu-Basantgarh of Udhampur district and from Hiranagar to Kathua.
“It has mostly hilly areas, some Kandi belts and some plain areas. The distance of Billawar from district headquarters is 81 km and some areas have 150 km distance or more from Kathua headquarters,” he claimed pitching for district status to Billawar.
He said that bureaucrats not being subjected to any kind of accountability seem to care little about the issues concerning people in general.
“The unrelated bureaucracy looks without seeing, listens without hearing and proclaims decisions, changing people’s lives without taking cognizance of the wishes and aspirations of the people,” he further said.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Budhi Singh, Sham Spolia, Tek Chand, Om Dutt, Ram Lal Bhatti, Tilak Raj Pathak and others.
