3 siblings, tea seller’s son among qualifiers

JAMMU, Jan 20: With six women among the 10 toppers, 187 candidates were declared as qualified in the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Competitive Examination (JKCCE) 2021, result of which was declared today by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission.
The preliminary examination for JKCCE-2021 was conducted on October 24, 2021 in which 20790 candidates appeared. Of them, 4462 candidates were declared to have qualified for the Mains examination.
The J&K Combined Competitive Examination (Mains) was conducted from April 8 to April 18, 2022, both at Jammu and Srinagar in which 3916 candidates appeared in all the papers.
A total of 648 candidates were declared to have qualified for the interview. Of them, 187 (29%) qualified the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Competitive Examination.
Megha Gupta, 28, daughter of Dharmendra Gupta and Meenakshi Gupta, of Janipur, Jammu, topped the JKAS-2021 with 1177.50 marks. NET qualified, Gupta is Masters in Environmental Science. Her father Dharemendra Gupta is an Income Tax officer.
28-year-old Shreya Sharma, who’s got a Masters degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), was declared as second topper with 1167.50 marks while Vijay Kumar was declared as third topper with 1142.50 marks.
Meanwhile, a businessman’s daughter, an SP rank officer’s son, three siblings of a family in Doda, a driver’s daughter, a tea seller’s son and a youth whose father died in cross-border firing, also figured among those who qualified the prestigious JKCCE-2021.
Aana Jamwal daughter of businessman KD Singh Jamwal of Raipur, Jammu qualified the prestigious examination with sixth rank and 1136 marks.
Huma Anjum, 27, Ifra Anjum, 24, and their younger brother Suhail Ahmed, daughters and son of Muneer Ahmed Wani from Kahi Trankhal, Doda, presently putting up in Jammu, also qualified the JKAS-2021 with ranks 117, 143 and 111 respectively.
While PGs in Political Science, Huma Anjum and Ifra Anjum qualified in their second attempts, Suhail Ahmed, BA, qualified in his first attempt.
The trio credited their success to each other. “We used to help each other in preparation. That’s how we cracked the examination,” Suhail Ahmed told the Excelsior.
According to him, he and his sisters passed the prestigious examination without any coaching.
“We prepared on our own and we want to serve in UT,” the trio replied with when asked whether they want to appear in UPSC in future.
Binatul Showket, daughter of a driver from Keegam Village in militancy-infested Shopian said that consistency and hard work is the key to her success in the examination.
“If one is determined, and knows how to channelize the potential in the right direction, with perseverance, the success will surely come his/her way,” Showket told the Excelsior.
Schooled in her home village, Shoket qualified the exam on her first attempt and has figured on rank 107.
For Abid Hussain Lone, a tea seller’s son from Handwara, cracking JKAS is equivalent to a dream coming true.
“My dream has always been serving the people and the Almighty Allah has fulfilled my dream. My father (who is dead) must be happy because he always wanted me to soar high and always did everything he could to support me as well as the family,” said Abid Lone.
He credited his success to his mother, who, he said, remained there always with him. To the youngsters, he said, they must channel their potential to achieve great things.
For Syed Abid, cracking JKAS is something big as he had a knack for the administration. “It is a moment of great happiness for me and my family as well. I always had an interest in administrative services and today qualifying the same, is quite a big thing,” he said.
Abid’s father, Syed Fayaz Shah Bukhari, a pharmacist by profession, was killed in cross-firing in 2004 at Sopore Hathishah Bridge.
Abid holds a PG in Urdu and has worked hard to achieve success.
“The credit goes to my mother because she has been very supportive throughout,” he said.
SP Rural (Traffic), Jammu, ML Kaith’s son, Abhishek Kumar Kaith also qualified the prestigious examination with 1036 marks.
Pertinently, General Administration Department referred 187 posts to the J&K Public Service Commission for being filled up through Combined Competitive Examination.
Accordingly, the preliminary examination was conducted on October 24, 2021 in which 20790 candidates appeared in the full examination. Of them, 4462 candidates were declared to have qualified for the mains examination.
Later, the J&K Combined Competitive Examination (Mains) was conducted from April 8, 2022 to April 18, 2022 both at Jammu and Srinagar in which 3916 candidates appeared in all the papers.
Followed by this, 648 candidates were declared to have qualified for the interview as per the criteria fixed by the commission in accordance with the rules under SRO-103 of 2018 dated February 23, 2018.
The personality test (interview) for the prestigious examination was conducted with effect from December 5, 2022 to January 19, 2023 at JKPSC office Jammu.
Out of 648 candidates shortlisted for the interview, result of 643 candidates, who appeared in the interview of J&K CCE 2021 at Jammu with effect from December 5, 2022 to January 19, 2023 was notified on January 20.
Accordingly, 187 candidates (29%) out of total 648 who appeared in the interview, have been declared qualified for the Medical Examination and have been directed to report to the respective medical boards constituted/to be constituted in GMC Jammu and Srinagar for conduct of their medical examination.
