UDHAMPUR, Feb 10: A 25-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances here at Tikri area of the District on Friday, police said.
They said Rekha Devi wife of Rakesh Kumar of Nai Basti, Tikri was found unconscious in her house.
She was taken to the District Hospital by her in-laws where doctors declared her as dead on arrival, police said.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased woman staged a demonstration outside the District Hospital Udhampur and resorted to sloganeering against her in-laws, alleging she was tortured and murdered.
Police have handed over the body of the deceased to her legal heirs after conducting the post-mortem at the District Hospital mortuary and launched inquest proceedings under CrPC 174 to ascertain the actual cause of the death of the young woman.
